53.Internet, TV, libraries, apps

Q1 What kinds of people would still go to the library to read and study?

Ans- For one, students who need to really focus, especially during exam season, often go there because it's quiet and there are fewer distractions. Like, at home, your phone's right there, your bed's right there... but in the library, it just feels more serious. You kind of switch into 'study mode.' Then there are people who just love that calm atmosphere. I know some people who aren't even studying for anything specific. They just like reading or writing in a space that feels peaceful. It's a bit old-school, but in a nice way. Also, some people don't have a good setup at home. Maybe it's noisy, or they don't have enough space. For them, the library becomes a really useful space. It's free, it has Wi-Fi, sometimes even good coffee nearby. And finally, I think people who just enjoy being around books, like real, physical books, still choose the library. It's got a different vibe from reading on a screen.

Q2 Will libraries be replaced by the Internet?

Q3 Are libraries still necessary?

Ans- Well, I don't think so, at least not in the coming years as nowadays the Internet gives just a small percentage of what is published. And the most reliable scholarly information is available only in books and journals. What's more, the Internet is not organized and doesn't have quality control, which makes it difficult to find the information people can trust and refer to. So, to my mind, both the young and the old will get back to libraries for many years to come.

Q4 What are the most and the least popular apps in your country?

Ans- Well, I think all possible kinds of apps. Many people use news apps because it's important for everyone, especially nowadays, to keep up with current events and know what is happening in the world. Also, a number of people play mobile games just to relax or pass the time while waiting for somebody or queuing. Apps for business are popular too, for example, email apps, apps for editing documents, reminders, notepad apps, a currency converter and a calculator. People want to be able to do their work wherever they are, even on the go. Finally, many people in my country use productivity apps such as a photo editor, an alarm clock, some trip planners, to name but a few.

Q5 What's the difference between the Internet and television?

Ans- Well, the Internet and television are two different forms of media that have distinct characteristics and serve different purposes. The Internet is a digital network that is accessed via computers, smartphones, or other devices, and offers a vast array of content, including text, images, videos, and audio, as well as interactive features such as forums, blogs, and social media. The Internet is highly interactive, allowing users to engage with content, communicate with others, and share information, and is available 24 by 7 and can be accessed from almost anywhere with an internet connection. On the other hand, television is a traditional broadcast medium that is received via a television set. It primarily offers linear programming such as news, sports, and entertainment, and is generally a one-way form of communication with limited options for user interaction. Television is available for limited hours of operation and is only available in certain geographic locations, and the cost of accessing television is typically included as part of a cable or satellite subscription. To sum up, the Internet offers more interactivity, content options, accessibility, and cost flexibility compared to television.

Q6 What are the differences between old and young people when they use the Internet?

Ans- In my opinion, there are several differences between old and young people when they use the Internet. One major difference is the purpose of use. Young people may use the internet for entertainment, socializing and learning, while older adults may use the internet for more practical purposes such as banking, paying bills, and keeping in touch with family members. Another difference is in their usage of social media platforms. Young people are more likely to use social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, while older adults may not be as active on these platforms or may not use them at all. Additionally, there is also a difference in search habits. Young people are more likely to use search engines to find information quickly and efficiently, while older adults may be more likely to use bookmarks or saved links to access frequently visited websites.

Q7 Why do people like to read news on the Internet instead of on TV?

Ans- There are several reasons why many people prefer to read news on the Internet instead of on TV. First, the Internet allows for more convenient access to news. People can access news on their phones, tablets, or computers at any time. Nobody wants to be tied to a specific TV schedule. This allows people to stay up to date on current events at their own pace, not to feel rushed to watch a news program before it ends. Second, the Internet allows for a wider variety of news sources instead of being limited to the few options available on TV. This allows people to get a more diverse range of perspectives and helps to prevent media bias. Third, the Internet allows for more interactive and personalized news experiences. Many online news sites offer personalized recommendations based on a person's interests and history of news consumption. Thus, people get news that is more tailored to their interests. They aren't presented with a one-size-fits-all news program. For example, if someone is interested in politics and environmental issues, they can easily find online news sources that focus on these topics. And people don't have to sift through a general news program that may not cover these issues as heavily.
