Recycling and rubbish
Q1.Can you name products or materials that are commonly recycled?
Ans:Well, to my mind, the most commonly recycled materials are aluminium, steel, plastic, glass, paper and organics such as yard and kitchen waste. There are special containers for these types of waste in many cities all around the world, which makes it quite comfortable for people to sort waste out. Aluminium is usually obtained from cans, baking tins, curtain rods, foil, spray cans and aluminium siding. It is 100% recyclable and can be reprocessed over and over again. Steel is obtained from cans, cars, appliances and construction materials, and it is usually remelted before being reused. Paper includes newspapers, office paper, junk mail and even paper towels, and can be recycled only so many times as it's made from plant fibers that become shorter during paper-making. Glass is usually taken from bottles and jars. It's very easy to recycle. Waste bottles and jars can be melted down and used again and again. And plastic is obtained from plastic bottles and bags. The only trouble is, plastics are relatively hard to recycle. There are many d types of plastic and they all have to be recycled different way.
Q2.Do you always try to recycle things like paper and plastic?
Ans:Of course I do as I want to ensure a greener future for my children and generations beyond and think that reusing valuable resources will help me with it.
Q3.How do you feel when you see rubbish in the streets?
Ans:Oh, I usually feel sad and worried when I see piles of litter in the streets as they not only depreciate the aesthetic value of the surrounding area but also pollute the environment, which can have a negative impact on my health and wellbeing.
Q4.Why have people's attitudes towards recycling changed over the last several years?
Ans:Well, I guess, first of all, because the recycling message has reached more people. People have understood that many of the resources that are used to produce products and packaging in the modern world are finite, and that synthetic waste that isn't recycled is causing serious problems with health, the weather, and the eco-system generally. People now know that everybody wins with recycling, which also explains why more and more of them have started taking responsibility for their waste. Oh, and one more thing that has gained growing interest for recycling is the fact that authorities in many cities have started to arrange collections of recyclable waste, making it more comfortable for people to address the issue of ensuring a greener future for the generations to come.
Q5.Do you think recycling is important?
Ans:A firm 'yes' as it reduces the pollution caused by waste as well conserves energy. It also reduces the need for raw materials so that the rainforests can be preserved. It lets both people and companies benefit reducing landfills and the amount of unhealthy greenhouse gas emissions, and this way improving health of the former, and reducing financial expenditure thanks to saving energy for the latter. So, recycling is definitely very important in our present-day world.
