This mishap happened to me a long time ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. My boss invited me to lunch to discuss my long-term career plans. I had even heard through the grapevine that he was going to offer me a new position and a bigger project. One day, when I was supposed to be at the café, I was in the office working as if everything was normal. It wasn't until I saw my boss's name on my phone screen that I remembered our meeting. You know, I was absolutely shocked. I had a panic attack, and I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. I couldn't believe I had completely forgotten about it. It just slipped my mind. I realized how awful the situation was. My be had rearranged his busy schedule to meet me, and I hadn't even shown up. I felt deeply ashamed of what had happened, and I didn't have any excuse. I felt so guilty knowing he had wasted his valuable time waiting for me instead of focusing on something important. I was terrified that he might think I didn't value the opportunity or respect his time. On top of that, I was in shock because nothing like this had ever happened to me before, and I didn't know how to handle it. Of course, I apologized a hundred times, but it didn't make me feel any better. I knew he had wasted his precious time because of me, and I couldn't forgive myself for it.
