Every year before New Year's Eve, I write down my goals and wishes for the upcoming year. Since I absolutely love traveling, I always include a list of countries I'd like to visit. Like every year, I decided to write down a list of travel destinations. I started surfing the internet, reading travel blogs, and watching videos on YouTube. One of the countries I came across was Cuba. I saw lots of pictures of its remarkable mountains, spectacular limestone hills, vast tobacco plantations, butter-soft beaches, lush green countryside, and colorful colonial cities. At some point, I realized there was something about Cuba that made me put it at the very top of my travel wish list. Many travellers say that it's a truly unique pl. thing is, the country was isolated from the rese world for many years. And despite the fact that most restrictions were lifted some years ago, it ha changed a lot since then. Everyone says it seems to be lost in time, somewhere in the 1950's. I mean, people usually describe it as a place with salsa and rumba music playing everywhere, men smoking cigars and drinking rum, old American cars in the streets, and the beautiful colonial buildings with peeling paint in Old Havana. For me, it's really hard to believe that anything like that is possible in our modern world. So I want to experience it for myself. At the moment, I don't know more than that, and I'm not planning to continue my research 'cause if I learn everything before visiting, there will be nothing left to discover when I go there one day. It won't be interesting. I know myself. So I really want to know more about this country, but I don't want to explore it from my couch.
