Q1 How does advertising affect people?
Ans- There are a lot of ways advertising affects people, both positively and negatively, but I'll highlight the main points. On the positive side, advertising helps people find solutions to their problems. For example, if someone is struggling with back pain and doesn't know about a product that could help, an ad might show them exactly what they need. It's a quick way to get the solution without wasting time searching. Advertising also saves time. Sometimes, we'd spend ages looking for a product, but then an ad pops up and suddenly we don't have to waste any more time, it shows us exactly what we've been looking for. Another positive is that advertising informs people about new opportunities. Ads often introduce products or services that people might not know exist, helping them find better solutions for what they need. For example, a new app or service could improve someone's life in a way they didn't even think of before. Plus, ads help people make quick decisions, like when you see a limited-time offer and make a purchase quickly, saving time and effort. On the flip side, it often encourages impulse buying, especially with things like 'limited time only' offers. A good example is Temu, where you're bombarded with discounts and free gifts, and before you know it, you've added a bunch of items to your cart, even though you didn't need anything at first. Ads also manipulate emotions. For instance, ads for beauty products or weight loss solutions make people feel insecure, pushing them to buy things to fix perceived flaws. Finally, advertising leads to overspending. Ads can tempt people to buy more than they can afford. Whether it's through 'limited time' off showing how everyone else has a product, often feel pressured to spend money they don't have, sometimes even going into debt.
Q2 Do you think it is good to see the same advertisements everywhere?
Ans- Well, it really depends. On one hand, seeing the same ad everywhere can get kind of annoying. If you're constantly bombarded with the same thing, whether it's on your phone, in the subway, or on TV, it can feel overwhelming. After a while, you might start tuning it out, especially if it's something you're not interested in. However, repetition can actually be a good thing for brand recognition. If you see an ad for a product just once, it's easy to forget. With the constant flood of information we're exposed to every day, it's hard to remember everything that catches our attention. But when you see the same ad multiple times, it starts to stick in your mind. You might not immediately buy the product, but over time, you'll remember it when you actually need it. For example, you might see an ad for a new phone or a gym membership several times, and after a while, when you're actually looking for a new phone or thinking about getting fit, that ad will pop into your mind.
Q3 Do people pay attention to advertisements on public transport?
Ans- Yeah, people actually do. Ads on public transport are pretty effective. First of all, people spend a lot of time on buses, trains, or subways, which gives ads plenty of time to catch their attention. Whether they're sitting or standing, people are likely to notice the ads around them, especially during long commutes or when they're waiting for the next stop. Also, public transport ads are kind of unavoidable. It's not like people can just scroll past them like online ads. They're right there, in front of you. Plus, there's less going on around you, so people are more likely to pay attention. One cool thing is that public transport ads tend to reach a pretty broad audience, from commuters to tourists. It's a great way to get a brand in front of a lot of people. Plus, it's not just about the quantity of people. It's also the type of people. You get a good mix of demographics, so it can be super effective for reaching the right audience. Of course, it's not always perfect. Sometimes people ignore ads if they're tired or distracted. But overall, public transport is a pretty good place to catch people's attention.
Q4 Where do we often see advertisements?
Ans- We often see ads in places with a lot of foot traffic or where people tend to gather the most. This is because the chances of an ad being noticed and bringing in profit are much higher in those areas. For example, shopping malls are full of people all the time, so companies place ads there to make sure they're seen by a large number of potential customers. Another common place is public transport. Buses, subways, and trains are usually crowded, which makes them ideal spots for ads. You'll also see a lot of ads on main streets, on the sides of buildings, and on billboards. Places like airports and train stations are also popular, since so many people pass through them every day. In addition, we often see ads online, especially on social media and search engines. People spend a lot of time on social media, browsing websites, and using apps, so it's perfectly natural that companies target these platforms with ads. The goal is always to put ads where people are most likely to see them, whether it's in physical locations or digital spaces.
Q5 What are the advantages of advertising?
Q6 Do you think the influence of advertising is good?
Ans- Advertising is a crucial component of any successful business strategy. It allows companies to make themselves more visible and accessible to a wide range of potential customers. By highlighting their business beyond their local area and reaching out to their target audience worldwide, companies can expand their customer base and increase their revenue. One of the key benefits of advertising is its ability to target a very specific segment of people. This allows companies to find the right audience for their products or services, which further helps them in generating more leads and making their campaigns more effective and profitable. Additionally, advertising helps companies keep their target audience engaged by providing them with relevant and useful information about the company and its offerings. Another benefit of advertising is its ability to help companies reach their goals quickly. The moment a company starts its ad campaign, it can start receiving qualified leads, which can lead to increased sales and revenue. Overall, advertising is an essential tool for any business looking to grow and succeed in today's competitive marketplace.
Q7 How does advertising influence children?
Ans- Well, children are an extremely vulnerable target audience because they are cognitively and psychologically defenseless against advertising. Children take everything they see at face value, and therefore they are easy to persuade. So if the ad says that it is a Snickers that satisfies hunger best, they are likely to opt for a Snickers rather than healthy snacks. They quickly get used to consuming unhealthy food, and then they become adults who lead an unhealthy lifestyle. Also, children are not able to understand the persuasive character of advertising messages. However, they absorb these messages like a sponge. This may cause changes in children's behaviour. For example, some children make excessive demands on their parents for the products they see in ads, especially if these products were advertised by their favourite cartoon or film characters. And some kids even have temper tantrums in public if their parents refuse to buy this or that thing.
Q8 Is there any advertising that can be harmful to children?
Ans- Unfortunately, there is. I am more than sure that it's not good for kids to see advertising of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs or unhealthy foods 'cause children are cognitively and psychologically defenseless against advertising and often imitate specific behaviours they see in the media. So seeing somebody smoking or drinking a glass of something strong can push a child to trying the same, which is, no doubt, unhealthy and harmful for them in young years.
