77.Role models, motivation
Q1 What qualities make someone a role model?
Ans- I guess these are all those desirable qualities that make them beacons of light that show people the way through with their own example and make them easy to look up to. I see a positive role model as someone who, first of all, has high moral values, supports worthwhile causes, behaves ethically and demonstrates honesty. Also, I think that a role model should be confident, or it's better to say have a healthy appreciation of their accomplishments, be hardworking and demonstrate their commitment to a desired goal as well as willing to invest the necessary time and effort to achieve success, and of course, optimistic and creative, able to see the bright side in difficult situations and find creative solutions to their problems 'cause these are the qualities that can inspire others make changes and strive toward new goals.
Q2 Why should children learn from role models?
Ans- You know, there is an adage that says 'a picture is worth a thousand words', which means it's easier to show something than to explain the same thing. Plus, observing a role model in a real-world scenario often carries much more modeling weight than being given a talk about something that should be learned. I know from my own experience that telling is one of the least effective methods for training and teaching children. So when children have a positive role model, it's easier for them to engage in constructive actions like the person they look up to and pick up good habits that could last a lifetime.
Q3 Who do children listen to more, their parents or their teachers?
Q4 Who can influence children more, teachers or parents?
Ans- I believe parents have more influence on children because they are with children from an early age, teaching them life skills and values. Parents provide emotional support, which builds a child's confidence and trust. They guide their children through life decisions and are always there to help with challenges. Even as children grow older, parents continue to shape their beliefs and attitudes, which lasts a lifetime.
Q5 What kind of international news inspires people?
Ans- In my opinion, international news that inspires people often has to do with positive or uplifting stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things, such as risking their lives to save others or standing up for what they believe in, for example, stories about healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, or people who have taken a stand against injustice. Also, people often get inspired by stories about individuals and communities that have faced challenges and overcome them, for example, stories about refugees who have fled violence and persecution and have found a new home, or about people who have overcome disability or illness to achieve great things... and, of course, by stories about people or organizations that are making a positive impact on the world, for example, stories about charitable organizations that are working to improve the lives of people in need, or about individuals who are working to protect the environment or promote social justice... Finally, news about scientific and technological advancements, news about environmental issues, and news about cultural events and traditions can all be sources of inspiration and encourage people to take action or make a difference in their own lives.
Q6 Besides parents and teachers, who else can motivate children?
Ans- Besides parents and teachers, I think friends and coaches can motivate children a lot. Friends create healthy competition and support each other in school. Coaches not only teach sports skills but also life lessons like teamwork and perseverance. Older siblings can also have a positive influence by setting a good example. And role models, like celebrities or community leaders, inspire kids to follow their dreams and work hard. So, it's not just parents and teachers. There are many people who can help motivate kids to succeed.
Q7 Can online teaching motivate students to learn?
Ans- I think online teaching can really motivate students to study more. First of all, it gives them the freedom to learn whenever it suits them, which can reduce stress. Many platforms use videos, quizzes, and games that make learning more fun and less boring than traditional classes. Also, students can explore a wider range of subjects, even from international teachers. For some, it's easier to focus at home without peer pressure. I've noticed that some kids feel more confident asking questions online than in person. Of course, it depends on the student's personality, but overall, online learning can be quite engaging. It just needs to be well-organized and interactive.
